April 30 is International Jazz Day, and as a UNESCO Creative City of Music, Kansas City joins the global celebration by opening the doors of the Mutual Musicians Foundation for the Next Gen Jazz Lab Open House. Discover an immersive music education program designed for young musicians aged 14–18.

About the event
This free Open House kicks off the launch of Next Gen Jazz Lab—a brand-new program offering youth ages 14–18 hands-on instruction in jazz, hip-hop, and soul; professional mentorship in piano, drums, saxophone, vocals, and production; and real-world insights into the music industry. All skill levels are welcome—no experience needed—and parents, guardians, and students are invited to explore the program and tour this National Historic Landmark venue.
Next Gen Jazz Lab is an immersive program designed to:
Equip youth (ages 14–18) with musicianship skills and industry insights.
Offer hands-on instruction in jazz, hip-hop, and soul alongside professional musicians.
Explore instruments from piano and drums to saxophone, vocals, and production.
Welcome all skill levels, with no prior experience required.
